Manchester City striker Edin Dzeko has praised his teammate for the following a 2-0 win against Newcastle United on Sunday (17/8). He felt it important victory for his side who will fight to retain the title. 

The Citizens have the perfect start by taking three points in the opening match of the Premier League season thanks to goals 2014/2015 of David Silva and Sergio Aguero. 

"It is always good and it is important to start with a win in the new season," he said as quoted by the official website of Manchester City. 

"We knew it would be tough, but we gave everything. We start from the first minute, be aggressive and try to score goals and I think we deserved to win," he continued. 

"I am very proud that we managed to win this game.'s First game could be tough, but we did it again and I want to thank our fans because I thought they were brilliant today, once again," said Dzeko. 

Man City will play host to Liverpool in their next league game on August 25.
